About the position

The Event Services Manager - Overnight plays a crucial role in overseeing the event services team while actively participating in the physical setup of function rooms. This includes arranging tables, chairs, dance floors, podiums, and other necessary equipment to ensure events are executed according to specific requirements and standards. The manager is responsible for developing and directing the team to provide consistent, high-quality service, which involves communicating performance expectations and training staff in established processes. Additionally, the manager monitors and controls financial and administrative responsibilities, including asset protection, to maintain operational efficiency. In this role, the manager ensures that the Red Coat program is implemented in accordance with Catering Event Service minimum standards. They delegate tasks to ensure that room setups are completed on time and meet the established Event Service Standards. The manager is also responsible for managing departmental inventories and assets, projecting supply needs, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation standards are upheld in all banquet operation areas. They act as a liaison between various departments, including Banquets, Event Planning, and Event Delivery teams, to maintain high standards throughout the event. Providing exceptional customer service is a key component of this position. The manager must be visible and available to customers at all times, proactively solving problems and suggesting alternatives as needed. They set a positive example for guest relations, interact with guests to gather feedback, and empower employees to deliver excellent service. Furthermore, the manager conducts human resources activities by setting service goals, ensuring employees understand expectations, and leading shifts while participating in event servicing. They also communicate and execute departmental emergency procedures and conduct monthly meetings with the Event Service staff to ensure alignment and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervising the event services team and participate in the physical setup of function rooms.
  • Ensure the Red Coat program is in place according to Catering Event Service minimum standards.
  • Delegate tasks to ensure timely room setups that meet Event Service Standards.
  • Manage departmental inventories and assets, including maintenance of equipment.
  • Project supply needs for the department and ensure candy rotation in meeting rooms.
  • Establish consistent standards for regular and VIP meeting room setups.
  • Conduct function room inspections prior to each function to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all banquet operation areas.
  • Act as a liaison between Banquets, Event Planning, and Event Delivery teams throughout events.
  • Coordinate necessary departments to maintain meeting room standards and maximize space utilization.
  • Ensure function rooms are set according to event documentation and customer requirements.
  • Be present and available to customers at all times to solve problems and suggest alternatives.
  • Set a positive example for guest relations and interact with guests for feedback.
  • Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints effectively.
  • Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Set service goals for event service supervisors and employees to achieve satisfaction goals.
  • Ensure employees understand expectations and attend all pertinent meetings.
  • Lead shifts and actively participate in servicing events.
  • Communicate and execute departmental emergency procedures and ensure staff training.
  • Conduct monthly department meetings with Event Service staff and schedule employees for shift coverage.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years of experience in event management, food and beverage, or a related professional area.
