About the position

As an Event Services Manager at Marriott International, you will play a crucial role in supervising the event services team while personally assisting in the physical setup of function rooms, which includes arranging tables, chairs, dance floors, podiums, and other necessary equipment. Your primary responsibility will be to execute events according to specific requirements and standards, ensuring that every detail is attended to for a seamless experience. You will assist in developing and directing your team to provide consistent, high-quality service, while also communicating performance expectations and training staff in established processes. Additionally, you will monitor and control financial and administrative responsibilities, including asset protection, to ensure the department operates efficiently and effectively. In this role, you will ensure that the Red Coat program is implemented in accordance with Catering Event Service minimum standards. You will delegate tasks to guarantee that room setups are completed on time and meet the Event Service Standards. Managing departmental inventories and assets, including maintaining equipment and projecting supply needs, will be part of your daily activities. You will also conduct function room inspections prior to each event to ensure that everything is set according to specifications and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all banquet operation areas. Providing exceptional customer service is a key aspect of this position. You will be expected to make your presence known to customers at all times, staying available to solve problems and suggest alternatives as needed. Interacting with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels will be essential, as will responding to and handling guest problems and complaints. You will empower your employees to provide excellent customer service, setting a positive example for guest relations. As part of your human resources responsibilities, you will set service goals for event service supervisors and employees to achieve Event Planner satisfaction goals. You will ensure that employees understand expectations and parameters, attend and participate in all pertinent meetings, and lead shifts while actively participating in the servicing of events. Additionally, you will communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures, ensuring that staff are trained in safety protocols. Conducting monthly department meetings with Event Service staff and scheduling employees to ensure shift coverage will also be part of your duties.

Responsibilities

  • Review the Diary weekly to ensure space maximization for events.
  • Ensure function rooms are set according to event documentation and customer requirements.
  • Make presence known to customers and stay available to solve problems.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints effectively.
  • Set service goals for event service supervisors and employees to achieve satisfaction goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years of experience in event management, food and beverage, or a related professional area.
