About the position

As an Event Services Manager at Abigail Kirsch, you will play a pivotal role in planning, directing, and coordinating catered events. This position is based in Stamford, CT, and is a full-time, onsite role. You will be responsible for assisting in the selection of menu items, scheduling catering staff, arranging for necessary facilities or equipment, and effectively communicating customer and client needs to the appropriate personnel. Your efforts will directly support the goals of the Senior Director of Sales, ensuring that all catered events meet the high standards expected by our clients. In this role, you will develop and maintain catering accounts and client relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction before, during, and after each event. You will ensure that all event information in CaterXpert from the sales team is up to date and fully detailed prior to event deadlines. This includes reviewing event floorplans, day-of supervisor packets, pack lists, and rental equipment to ensure all information is current and correctly distributed. You will also be responsible for communicating SCG procedures, standards, and expectations to all event staff on-site, as well as ensuring that all pertinent event information is communicated to the culinary and operations teams. Your responsibilities will also include assisting in the setup and execution of events, maintaining a calendar of events through Outlook, and attending all necessary event meetings and conference calls. You will communicate with sales, culinary, and booking staff as needed to ensure a clear understanding of menus and client needs. Additionally, you will be responsible for the collection and submission of all payments and deposits related to contracted events, ensuring that these payments are made on time and reviewing the weekly AR report to correct any discrepancies or collect late payments. As an Event Services Manager, you will need to demonstrate nimble troubleshooting skills and make quick judgment calls when necessary. You will manage a staff, holding them accountable for their work and providing discipline as needed. Following each event, you will follow up with photographers to request event photos and act as the first point of contact for general leads, gathering detailed information as needed. You will also process event closeouts the day after each event and send out nightly event reminders to internal staff.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • 2 years of catering/food-beverage and/or administrative/event experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Very organized and able to work independently
  • Basic PC knowledge (Word & Excel)
  • Basic math knowledge (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages)
  • Excellent staff management skills
