About the position

The Event Production Technician at AVI-SPL is responsible for the design, setup, and support of onsite and hybrid events for a global technology client. This role requires technical expertise and creative innovation to contribute to the overall technical strategy of live events, ensuring flawless operation of video equipment and optimizing production control room setups.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the setup and configuration of all necessary control room elements to ensure a high-quality event for client productions.
  • Determine the required hardware, equipment, and production assets needed for events and oversee testing and quality control on all items prior.
  • Oversee the operational approach to fulfill the creative production needs for client events, including technical direction, audio mixing, robotic cameras, virtual platforms, graphics, video playback, streaming, lighting design, and teleprompter.
  • Use expert knowledge of production equipment to ensure optimization of all equipment configurations and setups, recommending repair or replacement as needed.
  • Provide post-production support for events including basic editing and graphics creation.
  • Collaborate on the assessment and recommendation of solutions around overall strategy for studio and event spaces based on operational requirements.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with team members to ensure alignment on event procedures, scheduling, and production briefs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in event production, broadcast, video production, or a similar field.
  • 1+ years of experience in onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events.
  • Studio production and event experience.
  • Experience with control room equipment including video switchers, audio consoles, robotic cameras, and video playback software.
  • Knowledge of virtual production and meeting platforms.
  • A keen eye for detail with knowledge of what creatively works well for broadcast production.
  • Track record of being strategic, organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and working well in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude during high-pressure situations.
  • Strong work ethic, self-direction, self-motivation, patience, persistence, and perspective.
  • Excellent collaboration and customer relationship skills with an understanding of the importance of white glove service.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-reliant in the execution of daily responsibilities.
  • Consistent proactive preparation and timely responses to multiple channels of communication.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various production environments and video switchers including Grass Valley and Ross Acuity.
  • Experience with audio production systems including Yamaha audio consoles, Dante audio routing networks, Shure microphones, and intercom systems.
  • Experience with Telemetrics, Sony, Panasonic, and Black Magic robotic cameras.
  • Experience with Adder KVM systems.
  • Experience with Haivision encoding and decoding systems.
  • Familiarity with post-production software including Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro.
  • College degree in video production, broadcasting, communications, or a similar field.
