About the position

The Event Technician position at Daktronics is a part-time, temporary role focused on providing technical support for Daktronics equipment at various sporting events at the University of Connecticut. This role involves working collaboratively with a team to ensure the smooth operation of digital display technology and audio systems during events, contributing to the overall experience for attendees.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site services, including maintenance, for all Daktronics systems and control equipment.
  • Learn Daktronics products, control/scoring systems, and processes and accurately diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair these systems in a timely and quality-conscious manner.
  • Complete hardware repairs using hand tools and other troubleshooting equipment.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Accurately meter AC & DC power and diagnose issues.
  • Complete quality work in a timely manner and work under pressure and time constraints.
  • Perform ‘pre-event' equipment checks and repairs on event days.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers as the main point of contact during events.
  • Arrive on time for all scheduled events.
  • Assist where needed and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electronic Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or a degree in another technical field.
  • Must be available to work event schedules at the University of Connecticut.
  • Ability to work at heights and from a ladder, and carry ladder/tools/parts to work site.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 45 pounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and good troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to communicate and work effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Willingness to take on responsibility and learn new skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to assigned venue.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
