About the position

At Avnet, we are seeking an Event Technology Marketing Manager who will be responsible for the comprehensive planning and execution of event logistics for a variety of internal, customer, and partner-facing events. These events include conferences, trade shows, corporate functions, leadership meetings, and community events. The role requires managing assigned events from the initial pre-event planning discussions through to the post-event evaluation of results. The preferred candidate will be located in Phoenix, AZ, and will work in a hybrid capacity, allowing for both in-office and remote work. The Event Technology Marketing Manager will utilize their robust knowledge of Cvent event management software to design, build, and customize event management sites, including registration and sponsorship sites. This includes developing surveys, providing detailed reporting, setting up on-site registration systems, and creating mobile applications for events. The ability to plan, organize, execute, and analyze the results of event projects is crucial. The manager will work closely with internal and external customers to identify and understand event goals and requirements, creating individual event project plans that outline key deliverables and milestones. In this role, the manager will also negotiate event contracts, ensuring that all legal approvals are obtained and that amenities, hotel accommodations, and special needs for the event are addressed. Providing project team leadership is essential, as the manager will engage appropriate internal and external team resources, coordinate with vendors and third parties, outline responsibilities, and communicate event objectives effectively. On-site management of assigned events and providing direction to extended internal and external teams will also be part of the responsibilities. Budget management is critical, ensuring that event budgets are clearly identified, scope creep is communicated, and budgets are closed out in a timely manner. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Typically requires 5+ years of experience in event management or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Thorough knowledge of event management principles and practices.
  • Competent in all job functions with a general understanding of industry standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with budget management and financial reporting for events.
