About the position

The Events Coordinator at The Dawes Arboretum is responsible for overseeing, planning, and executing a comprehensive calendar of events aimed at increasing donor, prospect, and public engagement. This role requires strong organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple events and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, plan, execute, and oversee all annual Arboretum events and experiences that align with the mission of The Arboretum.
  • Plan and oversee annual fundraising events and facilities rentals.
  • Develop and manage event budgets and serve as the organization's lead for event committees that may include board members, donors, friends, volunteers, and staff members.
  • Complete ‘return on investment' reports and analysis of events and facilities rental related activities.
  • Sustain an active peer network to keep up with industry trends, best practices, and event management benchmarking.
  • Identify prospects for funding and rentals.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in event management, hospitality, business, communications, or related field; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in event planning and coordination; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exemplary time management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal).
  • Demonstrated orientation toward quality customer service.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team member, as well as work independently to accomplish goals and benchmarks.
  • Ability to regularly work evening and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with event floor plan and booking software/tools.
  • Experience with Canva.
