About the position

The Event Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of event documentation and coordination at the Crystal Gateway Marriott. This role ensures a seamless transition from sales to service and back, managing events of average complexity while maximizing revenue opportunities through upselling and enhancements. The Event Manager delivers exceptional customer service throughout the event lifecycle, from pre-event planning to post-event follow-up, and acts as a liaison between clients and the property staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with Sales, property departments, and customers.
  • Ensure consistent, high-level service throughout pre-event, event, and post-event phases.
  • Manage group room blocks and meeting space for assigned groups.
  • Conduct billing accuracy checks and reviews with clients before finalizing bills.
  • Identify and solve operational challenges associated with events.
  • Act as a liaison between field sales and customers during the event process.
  • Participate in customer site inspections and assist with the sales process as needed.
  • Solicit feedback from property departments to improve the Event Planner's experience.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and empower employees to do the same.
  • Coordinate and communicate event details to customers and property operations.
  • Follow up with customers post-event and handle any complaints or issues.
  • Conduct pre- and post-event meetings to review group needs and feedback.
  • Assist in the sales process and revenue forecasting for customer groups.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with 1-2 years of experience in event management or related area, or
  • 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with at least 1 year of experience in event management.
