About the position

The Events Manager at The Kentucky Shop will play a pivotal role in overseeing all in-store and external events, ensuring that each event aligns with the company's vision and objectives. This position requires a dynamic individual who can manage both short- and long-term planning for events and sales, while also being responsible for the overall success of the events department. The ideal candidate will be proactive in researching and identifying opportunities for in-person shops, particularly through pop-up events across the state of Kentucky. In this role, the Events Manager will develop and recommend budgets, marketing plans, and objectives, ensuring that all activities are managed within the approved plans. The successful candidate will be tasked with maintaining or exceeding budgeted sales and profits in all event areas, which requires a keen understanding of market trends and customer preferences. Additionally, the Events Manager will evaluate each piece of event business to ensure that it can be properly serviced, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. The position also involves assembling creative and innovative event attractions, either by leveraging internal capabilities or by outsourcing to qualified vendors. The Events Manager will lead a team, training and supervising event staff to effectively solicit and book pop-up shops, as well as manage the planning, merchandising, and execution of various functions. Building long-term, value-based customer relationships is essential for achieving sales objectives, and the Events Manager will be responsible for administering all phases of the event department, including sales, planning, marketing, servicing, and administrative procedures. This role requires weekend availability and involves significant travel, with up to 50% of the time spent on the road, as events span across the state, including a new partnership in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all in-store and external events for The Kentucky Shop.
  • Conduct short- and long-term planning and management for events and sales.
  • Develop and recommend the budget, marketing plans, and objectives, managing within those approved plans.
  • Maintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits in all event areas.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement effective marketing plans for generating event revenues.
  • Evaluate each piece of event business to ensure it can be properly serviced.
  • Assemble creative and innovative event attractions based on internal capabilities or outsource to qualified vendors.
  • Train, supervise, and work with event staff to solicit and book pop-up shops, as well as plan, merchandise, and execute functions.
  • Lead the event team to build long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of sales objectives.
  • Administer all phases of the event department, including sales, planning, marketing, servicing, and administrative procedures.
  • Coach employees to reflect company service standards and procedures.
  • Oversee in-store events and merchandising.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in event management or a related field.
