About the position

The Events Manager at Marriott International is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of events at the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District. This role involves coordinating with various departments and clients to ensure a seamless experience throughout the event lifecycle, from pre-event preparations to post-event follow-ups. The Events Manager aims to maximize revenue opportunities through upselling and enhancing event offerings while delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with Sales, property departments, and customers to ensure high-level service throughout all event phases.
  • Manage event logistics and operations to ensure seamless progress and adherence to established procedures.
  • Greet customers during the event phase and facilitate the hand-off to the Event Operations team.
  • Ensure billing accuracy and conduct bill reviews with clients prior to processing the final bill.
  • Manage group room blocks and meeting spaces for assigned groups.
  • Identify operational challenges and develop solutions in collaboration with property staff and customers.
  • Act as a liaison between field salespersons and customers throughout the event process.
  • Participate in customer site inspections and assist with the sales process as necessary.
  • Solicit feedback from property departments to identify areas for improvement in the event planning process.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and empower employees to do the same.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; 1-2 years of experience in event management or a related field, or a 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major with at least 1 year of experience in event management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in upselling products and services during the event process.
  • Familiarity with current trends in event management and design.
