About the position

The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking an Events Manager to join the Marketing & Development Team. This role is integral to the office, collaborating with various areas of the department to enhance fundraising efforts. The Events Manager will be responsible for a range of activities including donor research, cultivation, and solicitation efforts, as well as managing fundraising appeals, giving clubs, event planning, and data analysis. This position serves as the on-site expert in the use and maintenance of the donor database, ensuring that all data is accurately managed and utilized to support the organization's fundraising goals. In this role, the Events Manager will oversee The Children's Home & Lemieux Family Center's fundraising events, which include third-party events, cultivation events, and the annual Shake Your Booties Gala. The individual will be tasked with stewarding corporate and individual gifts of all levels, including planned and major gifts, while fostering strong donor relations. Regular interaction with donors, volunteers, and members of the Board of Directors is expected, making strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for success in this position. The Events Manager will report directly to the Sr. Director of Development and will be a key member of the External Affairs Department team, which also includes a Programs Relation Manager, Grants & Community Relations Manager, and Marketing & Development Associate. This collaborative environment requires the ability to work effectively with senior management and other team members to achieve the organization's fundraising objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate fundraising events including third-party events, cultivation events, and the annual Shake Your Booties Gala.
  • Conduct donor research and cultivate relationships with potential and existing donors.
  • Oversee the maintenance and use of the donor database, ensuring accurate data management and analysis.
  • Steward corporate and individual gifts, including planned and major gifts.
  • Collaborate with the External Affairs Department team to support overall fundraising strategies.
  • Interact regularly with donors, volunteers, and Board of Directors members to foster strong relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Fundraising, Marketing, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in donor database management; expertise using Donor Perfect preferred.
  • Experience with data input/output, maintenance, management, and analysis.
  • Experience working for a non-profit organization is required.
  • Genuine interest in the organization's mission.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high level of detail.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and technical leadership.
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office, particularly strong Excel skills.
  • Understanding of principles and strategies of philanthropy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, exercising good judgment and acting diplomatically.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully both independently and collaboratively with a strong team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
