About the position

The Events Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of signature ABCD events, as well as the development and ongoing support of program and neighborhood events. This role involves working closely with the Director to develop and manage annual fundraising events such as the Community Heroes Celebration, Hoop Dreams, Field of Dreams, and the Annual Staff Celebration. The Events Manager will oversee all aspects of these events, including design, logistics, execution, budget management, and overall oversight. In addition to managing these key events, the Events Manager will track and manage overall participation, maintain RSVP lists, and assist in providing research on guests and donors to be used with materials provided to senior leadership. Collaboration with internal teams is essential for the creation and production of guest lists, invitations, and special event-related materials. The Events Manager will also assist agency programs and neighborhood sites in developing and implementing successful fundraising and awareness events. Ensuring compliance with outlined event procedures, including logistics, materials, and day-of coordination and troubleshooting, is a critical part of this role. The Events Manager will work with the Executive Office, agency programs, and other staff to create a yearly calendar of events and manage feedback from post-event fundraisers. Additionally, the Events Manager will collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, screen, and train volunteers for their event tasks, while maintaining successful interpersonal relationships with prospects, major donors, and volunteers. This position also serves as a liaison with third-party organizations and corporations that run events to benefit ABCD, providing guidance and support as needed. Other related duties may be assigned from time to time.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and ability to work in a team required.
  • Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
