About the position

The Events & Marketing Coordinator (Communications Assistant) at Indiana University is responsible for planning and executing various events, including lectures, receptions, and conferences. Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes Workshop events including lectures, receptions, and conferences.
  • Tends to visitors' itineraries, including travel and lodging logistics.
  • Markets events via website, newsletters, paper flyers, and social media.
  • Performs routine administrative tasks related to communications, such as drafting and editing materials.
  • Assists with editing and execution of mailings and communications.
  • Monitors relevant social media and news sites and responds to inquiries.
  • Manages accuracy of mailing and distribution lists; updates as necessary.
  • Prepares reports, communications timelines, and calendars; monitors progress toward deadlines.
  • Serves as a resource to lower-level Communications Assistants.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
  • 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills.
  • Possesses flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly thorough and dependable.
  • Possesses a high degree of initiative.
