About the position

The Events & Marketing Coordinator at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa is responsible for planning, coordinating, managing, and marketing all special events. This role aims to build brand awareness and support for the organization's mission through effective communication and marketing strategies, including social media management and content creation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise all elements of special events.
  • Develop innovative strategies to leverage funds in support of special events.
  • Collaborate with Chief Development Officer and board leadership for effective solicitation of funds.
  • Select and manage event contractors, vendors, and volunteers as needed.
  • Coordinate special event messaging and brand strategies to cultivate and steward donors.
  • Manage communication streams to donors and stakeholders, including newsletters and impact reports.
  • Produce fundraising collateral such as acknowledgement letters and direct mail appeals.
  • Develop and implement marketing and public relations strategies to build advocacy and financial support.
  • Update and maintain the organization's website and web presence.
  • Create and capture marketing content including photographs and success stories.
  • Design and execute a strategic social media plan to maximize networking opportunities.
  • Develop external fundraising and stewardship collateral in collaboration with the Resource Development team.
  • Provide editorial direction and production of publications to maintain consistent messaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, event management, marketing, public relations, or related field.
  • At least two years of experience managing special events and/or marketing in a non-profit setting.
  • Superior writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven expertise in managing non-profit events.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to create detailed budgets and financial reports.
  • Proficient in design software programs, particularly Photoshop, Canva, and Illustrator.
  • Valid Iowa State Driver's License and a clean driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Boys & Girls Clubs preferred.
  • Experience with Donor Perfect or comparable donor database.
