About the position

The Sales and Events Manager will serve as a primary point of contact for group dining and event sales for The Bazaar by José Andrés New York, Nubeluz, and Zaytinya in New York. This role is pivotal in developing infrastructure to maximize sales opportunities and fostering sustainable relationships within target groups to generate business for the restaurants. The Manager will be responsible for collecting and updating information about community and target markets, designing, implementing, and hosting events within the restaurant for sales and marketing opportunities, and attending offsite events to draw business into the restaurant. The Manager will actively seek out new events business to meet or exceed monthly sales goals. In this position, the Sales and Events Manager will proactively develop client relationships through outreach to specific market targets. They will manage the full sales and planning cycle for on-premises large groups and events, accommodating between 8 to 150 guests. As the main point of contact for clients throughout the planning process, the Manager will clearly define guest expectations, anticipate needs, and ask questions to ensure a positive experience. They will create detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for each large group and private dining booking, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the menu and products. Additionally, the Manager will liaise with the restaurant operations team for special requests and communicate all event execution plans. The role also involves coordinating with external event vendors as needed, collecting and sharing client feedback with the management team, and maintaining accurate event, payment, and customer records in Tripleseat. The Manager will develop and implement sales and marketing goals and strategies to increase overall and private event business, working closely with the Senior Director of Events. Building and nurturing relationships with corporate and social event planners will be essential to ensure that José Andrés Group is a top choice for events, fostering loyalty and repeat business. The Manager will also create a detailed database of key sales and events targets, assess results regularly, and brainstorm new cost-effective programs to generate awareness and trial among target audience segments. Collaboration and sharing of best practices with other José Andrés Group events team members in NYC and beyond will be a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively develop client relationships through outreach to specific market targets.
  • Manage full sales and planning cycle for on-premises large groups and events from 8 to 150 guests.
  • Serve as main point of contact for clients through the planning process.
  • Clearly define guest expectations, anticipate needs, and ask questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Create detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for each large group and private dining booking, exercising a thorough understanding of menu and products.
  • Liaise with restaurant operations team for special requests and to communicate all event execution plans.
  • Coordinate external event vendors as needed (Party Rental, florals, security, etc.).
  • Collect and share client feedback with the management team.
  • Update all sales and events materials on a regular basis, incorporating internal and client feedback.
  • Maintain accurate event, payment and customer records in Tripleseat.
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing goals and strategies to increase overall and private event business, in tandem with the Senior Director of Events.
  • Build and nurture relationships with corporate and social event planners to ensure José Andrés Group is at the forefront of their options for events fostering loyalty and repeat business.
  • Create a detailed database of key sales and events targets.
  • Assess results regularly and creatively brainstorm new cost-effective programs to generate awareness and trial among target audience segments.
  • Review and execute on monthly goals with Senior Director of Events.
  • Collaborate and share best practices with other José Andrés Group events team members in NYC and beyond.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of private dining or catering sales, event coordination or retail experience is required.
  • Prior front-of-house restaurant or catering experience is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a luxury environment.
  • Strong food and beverage knowledge, and interest in learning about cultural traditions.
  • Must have a high comfort level actively engaging guests and colleagues across the organization.
  • Exhibits strong telephone, email, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates a positive and team-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with basic social media marketing principles.
  • Ability to analyze and report data accurately.
  • Comfortable working independently, taking initiative to identify and accomplish tasks.
