About the position

The Event Services Intern at ASM Global's Paycom Center will gain hands-on experience in event operations, customer service, and venue management. This internship is designed for college students pursuing a degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Sport Management, or a related field, and requires a commitment of 15 to 20 hours per week, including non-traditional hours such as weekends and evenings. The intern will work closely with the Event Services team to ensure the successful planning and execution of various events.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring proactive planning, communication, and execution of a wide variety of events including concerts, professional basketball games, shows, private events, and meetings at the Paycom Center.
  • Assist the Event Manager and Sr. Event Manager in day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Provide excellent customer service to event organizers, clients, attendees, vendors addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Contribute to the sustainability of event related information such as event information templates, technical packets templates, and event supply inventory.
  • Assist in inspections to ensure venue readiness and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist with the ingress and egress of entry via ticket taking, walk through metal detectors, and bag searches.
  • Aid in the facilitation of part-time staff training through instruction from the Event Services Team.
  • Work in command center dispatching radio traffic during a variety of events when scheduled to that position.
  • Work with vendors on event logistics to meet planning deadlines.
  • Organize & purchase supplies for events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Event Services team.

Requirements

  • Working towards an Event Management, Hospitality, Sport Management, or a related field undergraduate or graduate degree.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to take initiative, but also able to ask for direction when needed.
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to organize large amounts of information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, highly reliable.
  • Polished and professional when dealing with members, prospective members, sponsors, and executive management.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; flexible.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Maintain and handle confidential information.
