About the position

The Executive Vice President and Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO) at Canandaigua National Bank & Trust is responsible for leading the technological vision and strategies of the organization. This role encompasses overseeing Information Technology, Project Management, and Data Governance, ensuring alignment with corporate business goals. The CITO partners with organizational leaders to leverage technology for enhanced productivity and leads change management initiatives related to digital transformation. Additionally, the CITO manages key enterprise platforms and serves as an Executive Sponsor for the Center for Excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic plans for Information Technology, Project Management, and Data Governance.
  • Foster innovation and prioritize key initiatives to achieve business goals.
  • Oversee the use of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, in secure and innovative ways.
  • Communicate strategic plans to the Executive Team and Board of Directors regularly.
  • Manage key enterprise platforms/systems and vendor relationships, ensuring performance goals are met.
  • Provide coaching on change management leadership and support the Center for Excellence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data governance strategies are effective and secure.
  • Prepare annual budgets for Information Technology and Project Management Office in line with operating and capital budgets.
  • Engage in strategic and operational governance as a member of the Executive team.
  • Promote strategic relationships across the enterprise and with external entities.

Requirements

  • MA/MS or MBA in Information Technology or related fields or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in Information Technology and Project Management.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) is a plus.
  • Prior experience in the banking/financial industry is highly desired.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with senior business leaders on strategic planning and roadmap development.
  • Experience executing a vendor management strategy, including evaluating and negotiating with key enterprise platform vendors.
  • Strong understanding of change management principles and effective communication to stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Effective problem-solving, presentation, and coaching skills.
  • Strong knowledge of information technology functions including applications, security, infrastructure, and support.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Workfront or similar systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Customer Relationship Management Systems (CRM), particularly Salesforce.
  • Working knowledge of bank systems and operations.
