About the position

The position involves performing environmental services-related tasks to ensure cleanliness and sanitation in assigned areas, demonstrating a service-oriented approach to patients, family members, guests, and staff. The role includes both basic and heavier cleaning functions, adhering to established schedules and methods, and requires attention to detail and the ability to follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
  • Dust horizontal surfaces and empty wastebaskets, removing waste and relining baskets.
  • Damp wipe and disinfect all furniture and clean and polish metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms.
  • Mop floors of rooms and offices, spot clean walls and windows, and polish metal surfaces.
  • Replenish room supplies and clean patient rooms as assigned.
  • Vacuum carpets and extract spots as needed, transporting soiled linen to the central collection point.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms and perform heavier cleaning functions in assigned areas.
  • Dust and wet mop floors, scrub floors with appropriate equipment, and vacuum and extract carpets for cleaning and bacteria control.
  • Transport waste from utility rooms and dispose of it properly.
  • Cycle clean vents, light fixtures, and windows, as well as ceilings and walls.
  • Measure and mix cleaning chemicals and assist in cleaning emergency spills when observed or upon request.
  • Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and recommend repairs as needed.
  • Observe and report the general need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures.
  • Assist in evacuating ambulatory patients and residents in case of fire or other internal disasters.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred.
