About the position

The Ewa Makai Middle School is seeking a fully self-contained Special Education Teacher for grades 6-8. This full-time position is designed for educators who are committed to providing high-quality instruction and support to students with special needs. The role requires a valid Hawaii teaching license or an Emergency Hire Permit, and the teacher will be responsible for creating an inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of students.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Provide instruction in a self-contained classroom setting for grades 6-8.
• Collaborate with other educators and support staff to ensure student success.
• Monitor and assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student performance and needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire.
• Completion of a Teacher's Education Program within three years of hire if not already completed.
• Demonstrated commitment to pursuing Hawaii licensing requirements.

• Salary range of $51,835.00 - $72,941.00 annually.
• $10,000 salary differential for Special Education with Hawaii teaching license.
