About the position

The Exam/Data Entry Clerk position at Akima involves providing technical and administrative support services to the U.S. Coast Guard National Maritime Center (NMC) in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The role focuses on managing mariner exams, maintaining databases, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of records, contributing to the overall efficiency of the NMC operations.

Responsibilities

  • Save and upload mariner exams.
  • Work in and update databases and other USCG systems.
  • Review, edit and quality check mariner exams to meet specific formatting requirements.
  • Process exam challenges and comments.
  • Record storage/upkeep and preparing Mariner records for archiving.
  • Process Open Book Renewal Examination requests as needed.

Requirements

  • A current Public Trust is preferred; or the select candidate must be able to obtain.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Access.
  • Good Customer Service and Communication Skills.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year business/office experience.
  • Ability to bend and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Intermediate or Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
