About the position

We are seeking a personal needs assistant to join our dynamic team at McClintock Middle School. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a commitment to supporting students with special needs. As a personal needs assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our students and contributing to a positive learning environment. This position is full-time and offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.16 to $17.50, depending on experience and qualifications. In this role, you will provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, focusing on their individual needs and goals. You will assist students with daily routines, including personal care, toileting, and organization. Teaching and reinforcing educational and behavioral skills in a supportive and nurturing manner will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also develop and implement individualized behavioral plans to promote positive behavior and social skills. Collaboration is essential in this position; you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement educational plans tailored to each student's needs. Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records of student behavior and performance will be part of your daily tasks. Additionally, you will assist with classroom management, supervising students during activities and maintaining a safe and orderly environment. Supporting students with autism and other special needs, including those with literacy or developmental delays, will also be a significant aspect of your role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 2 year degree or equivalent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and professionals.
  • Experience with behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of students, including those with varying needs and abilities.
  • Experience working with students of all ages and skill levels.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards.
