Executive, Legislative, and Other General Government Support

About the position

The Executive Administrative Assistant for the Bureau of Behavioral Health is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support and office management functions. This role supports the Director of Behavioral Health and the Howard County Local Behavioral Health Authority Board, ensuring efficient office operations, client support, and management of correspondence and documentation. The position also allows for hybrid telework, enhancing work-life balance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support and office management for the Bureau of Behavioral Health.
  • Assist the Director of Behavioral Health with various tasks and responsibilities.
  • Manage client and guest support services, including referrals and inquiries.
  • Type and prepare correspondence, reports, and presentations as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information related to staff and clients.
  • Organize and prepare materials for meetings, including agendas and minutes.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, ensuring all logistics are handled effectively.
  • Establish and maintain filing systems for programmatic documents and records.
  • Assist with invoice and contract support, including tracking payments and resolving discrepancies.
  • Participate in special projects and emergency preparedness activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Four years of experience performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.
  • Ability to substitute additional secretarial or clerical experience for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience in administrative duties, including drafting letters and managing calendars.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
