About the position

The Executive Administrator (EA) for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago is responsible for overseeing the department's administrative functions, including financial management and operational oversight. The EA serves as the chief operating and fiscal officer, managing an all-funds budget of $11 million. This role involves planning, coordinating, and directing the department's financial and management functions to support clinical care, research, and medical education. The EA is a key member of the Executive Committee and plays a crucial role in developing business plans and strategies for growth and donor support.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the department's administrative functions, including faculty and clinical associates.
  • Serve as the chief operating and fiscal officer for the department, managing an all-funds budget of $11 million.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct the department's financial and management functions supporting clinical care, research, and medical education.
  • Develop short- and long-term business plans for the department.
  • Work with the Chair, Section Chiefs, and Section Administrators to assess growth opportunities and unmet needs within the department.
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to develop strategies for identifying and securing donor support.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in administrative management within an academic or healthcare setting.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget oversight and fiscal planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives.
