About the position

The Executive Assistant position at the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS) serves as a vital support role to the Director and other executive staff, acting as the central point of contact for citizens in Dorchester County. This role requires a strong understanding of agency operations and state policies, utilizing independent judgment to manage complex issues and ensure efficient service delivery. The Executive Assistant will coordinate various administrative activities, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the department while maintaining high standards of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the agency coordinator for communications, marketing, and community events to promote services and events.
  • Assist the Director of Social Services by relieving them of operational details using best practices and state policies.
  • Function as the Executive Assistant to the DCDSS Advisory Board, managing operational details and ensuring adherence to agency and state policies.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of administrative staff or professional work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of experience with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Google Calendar, and Google Mail.
  • One year of experience drafting/creating confidential documents such as correspondence and reports.
  • One year of experience demonstrating strong time management, priority setting, and problem-solving skills.
