About the position

The position supports the Strategy and Innovation office at Memphis-Shelby County Schools, focusing on administrative functions and enhancing operational efficiency. The role requires a dynamic leader who can navigate complex environments, implement innovative solutions, and drive measurable outcomes for the district's educational transformation efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced administrative work for multiple programs and projects, including crafting presentations and written communications.
  • Serve as lead on scheduling, note-taking, and direct calling of necessary contacts.
  • Analyze unit operating practices to create new systems or revise established procedures for all Strategy and Innovation areas.
  • Process a wide variety of transactions subject to different sets of rules and regulations.
  • Identify issues or problems and seek alternative solutions consistent with applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned services, activities, and operations.
  • Manage office details by relieving management of routine issues and keeping them apprised of potential problems and concerns.
  • Schedule and coordinate calendar and appointments, travel, and conference arrangements.
  • Prepare and distribute notices, agendas, and supplementary materials, and manage audio-visual equipment for meetings.
  • Create and process letters, newsletters, e-mails, and other documents independently for the department as directed.
  • Interpret and explain related policies, programs, and legislative regulations.
  • Provide effective oral and written communication and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Monitor designated budgets and expenditures, reviewing for accuracy and making adjustments as directed.
  • Prepare purchase orders, supply requisitions, and payroll, and monitor receipt of materials and invoices.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or equivalent.
  • A total education/experience of 4 years, with a Bachelor's Degree equating to 4 years plus required years of experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field, which would equate to 2 years plus required years of experience.
