About the position

The Tift College of Education at Mercer University is seeking an Executive Assistant to the Dean to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Dean. The role requires proficiency in Microsoft Word for document preparation, Excel for budget maintenance and expense report development, and Outlook for managing office calendars. Familiarity with the WorkDay budget system and other Mercer-specific IT systems will be beneficial. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to work effectively with a diverse range of constituencies within the university community. This position is not just about administrative tasks; it also involves the ability to coordinate and organize meetings and special events, ensuring that all logistical aspects are handled efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative assistance to the Dean of the Tift College of Education.
  • Schedule and coordinate the Dean's appointments and travel arrangements.
  • Support the Dean with College and unit budget management and routine accounting functions.
  • Maintain records and manage databases for the Dean's office.
  • Prepare documents using Microsoft Word and maintain budgets using Excel.
  • Manage office calendars using Outlook and learn the WorkDay budget system.
  • Coordinate and organize meetings and special events as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • One year of prior administrative support experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle routine accounting functions.
  • Organizational skills and ability to establish priorities.
