University Police Services, Southern Command invites applications for an Executive Assistant to the Interim Director/Chief of Police - Southern Command (Director). This position is crucial in supporting the Director in unifying and aligning public safety services across the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), College of Southern Nevada (CSN), Nevada State University (NSU), and Desert Research Institute (DRI). The Executive Assistant will connect various stakeholders, including presidents, vice presidents, administration, business, finance, and human resources, to support the strategic realignment of law enforcement, security, dispatch, threat assessment, and emergency management services. The role requires a highly motivated individual who is customer and community service-oriented, ethical, and capable of supporting the department in creating a strategic and synergetic union committed to growth, efficiency, and transparency. The Executive Assistant will provide the highest level of administrative and secretarial support to the Director and Command staff, reporting directly to the Director. Responsibilities include facilitating management processes, acting as an intermediary on delegated administrative support matters, and working closely with various groups across the campuses and the community. The position involves reading and screening incoming correspondence, managing the Director's calendar, composing correspondence, preparing administrative reports, and maintaining confidential records. The Executive Assistant will also participate in the development of the department budget, oversee special projects, and coordinate various administrative activities. This role is distinguished by the complexity of issues handled, the level of personal contacts, and the knowledge required to assist the Director effectively. The incumbent must exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion in dealing with sensitive matters and will be expected to work additional hours as needed, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
