The Executive Assistant to the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs plays a vital role in supporting the Provost & VPAA's office, enabling them to focus on the broader issues affecting Long Island University (LIU). This position is essential for maintaining academic oversight across LIU's thirteen schools and colleges, which are located on Long Island, Brooklyn, and the Hudson Valley. The Executive Assistant serves as a critical link between the Provost & VPAA and various stakeholders, including school and college Deans, administrative offices, and faculty members, addressing a wide range of issues that arise within the academic environment. In this role, the Executive Assistant is responsible for synthesizing information for the office of the Provost & VPAA and communicating effectively with multiple audiences. The position requires a high level of organization and attention to detail, as the Executive Assistant will manage executive communications, including correspondence and emails directed to University stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves drafting University-wide emails on behalf of the Provost & VPAA and creating presentation materials such as PowerPoint slides. The Executive Assistant will also oversee various faculty management processes, including administering applications for Sabbatical, Non-Tenure Track Faculty, Senior Professor, and Promotion and Tenure, in accordance with campus Collective Bargaining Agreements. This includes maintaining academic affairs calendars and managing committee meeting agendas and minutes for various University committees. Furthermore, the Executive Assistant will handle human resources operations related to faculty hiring procedures and oversee the annual faculty line request process. The role may also involve managing special projects that require confidentiality and high-level oversight from inception to completion. Overall, this position is integral to the smooth operation of the Provost & VPAA's office and the broader academic mission of LIU.
