About the position

The Executive Assistant position at Radford University provides executive-level strategic, fiscal, and operational support for the Vice President for Student Affairs. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the Vice President's office, which includes managing daily office functions such as scheduling, calendar management, and travel coordination. The Executive Assistant will also be responsible for project coordination, oversight, and assessment, as well as conducting research and data analysis related to trends and best practices in student affairs. This position requires the development of reports, graphic presentations, and communications that align with the strategic goals of the University. In partnership with Division leadership, the Executive Assistant will help refine and implement a divisional strategy aimed at achieving the metrics and targets outlined in the University's strategic plan. The role demands a strategic mindset and strong organizational skills to support the efficient execution of administrative and fiscal responsibilities. A high level of confidentiality and discretion is essential, as the position involves direct communication with a diverse range of individuals both within and outside the Division and University. Additionally, the Executive Assistant will have leadership responsibilities related to Division budget development and personnel management, making this a critical role within the Student Affairs division.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level strategic, fiscal, and operational support for the Vice President for Student Affairs.
  • Manage daily office functions including scheduling, calendar management, and travel coordination.
  • Coordinate projects and oversee assessments related to student affairs initiatives.
  • Conduct research and data analysis to identify trends and best practices.
  • Develop reports, graphic presentations, and communications for the Vice President.
  • Collaborate with Division leadership to refine and implement divisional strategies.
  • Ensure the efficient execution of administrative and fiscal responsibilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, both internal and external to the Division and University.
  • Assist in Division budget development and personnel management.

Requirements

  • A combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities, including education and/or experience in a related field.
  • Prior training and progressive full-time experience in an executive administrative, administrative, project coordination, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence and a record of performing duties at the highest level.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to prioritize and make sound judgment calls.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a high degree of professionalism.
  • High level skills in organization and time management, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to think creatively and respond urgently to situations requiring quick turnaround.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with foresight to anticipate future needs.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in writing reports and designing graphic presentations.
  • Experience monitoring budgets and working with fiscal and personnel processes.
  • Self-direction and ability to work independently while being a collaborative team member.
  • Proficiency in Office 365/Microsoft Office and other current business applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education or governmental executive administrative roles.
  • Experience with Banner software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with state purchasing systems is preferred.
