About the position

The Executive Assistant at Elizabeth City State University provides high-level administrative support to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. This role involves conducting research, preparing statistical reports, managing information requests, and performing various clerical functions. The Executive Assistant may also be responsible for training and supervising lower-level clerical staff, ensuring efficient operations within the Academic Affairs division.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
  • Conduct research and prepare statistical reports.
  • Handle information requests and perform clerical functions such as preparing correspondence.
  • Receive visitors and arrange conference calls.
  • Schedule meetings and manage the administrator's calendar.
  • Train and supervise lower-level clerical staff as needed.
  • Independently compose materials and speeches for the administrator.
  • Administer the budget and make recommendations regarding fund distribution.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience.
  • Associate's degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
