About the position

The Executive Assistant position at Steel Dynamics Inc. is a vital role that encompasses a variety of clerical and administrative duties. This position is primarily responsible for supporting payroll processing and the administration of the company's benefit programs. The Executive Assistant will serve as a backup for Payroll and Benefits functions, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently. This role requires a high level of professionalism and discretion, as the individual will be handling confidential employee information and documentation. In addition to payroll and benefits support, the Executive Assistant will assist in the recruiting and onboarding process. This includes managing assessments and overseeing the iCIMS system, which is crucial for tracking candidates and facilitating a seamless hiring process. The role also involves maintaining electronic Employee Personnel Records, ensuring that all documentation is organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible. The Executive Assistant will play a key role in fostering a positive atmosphere for employee relations. This includes preparing reports, memos, letters, and other documents, as well as creating presentations and organizing materials for meetings. The individual will manage calendars, schedule, and coordinate meetings, ensuring that all logistical aspects are handled efficiently. Additionally, the Executive Assistant will be responsible for planning and organizing large meetings and events, such as holiday parties and company picnics, which are essential for team building and employee engagement. Overall, this position requires a self-directed individual with excellent organizational skills, the ability to solve problems effectively, and a strong attention to detail. Flexibility to work extra hours and weekends may be necessary, depending on the demands of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the backup for Payroll and Benefits functions.
  • Assist in the recruiting and onboarding process, including assessments and overseeing iCIMS.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information.
  • Organize, maintain, and file electronic Employee Personnel Records.
  • Facilitate a positive atmosphere for good employee relations.
  • Prepare reports, memos, letters, and other documents, including organization charts.
  • Prepare presentations and organize materials for meetings (PPT).
  • Manage calendars, schedule, and coordinate meetings.
  • Prepare and review correspondence.
  • Plan and organize large meetings and events such as Holiday and Picnic parties.
  • Provide general administrative support.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material with professionalism, discretion, and strict confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed with attention to details and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Flexibility to work extra hours and weekends, as needed.
  • May NOT be related to another Employee of Steel Dynamics.
  • Experience working with UKG Software preferred.
  • 2+ years of Benefit experience is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as an assistant.
