About the position

The Executive Chef at Holy Cross Hospital Davis is responsible for overseeing culinary and nutrition services, ensuring high standards of food quality and safety, and managing the operational needs of the dietary staff. This role involves creating service standards, conducting audits, managing staff performance, and collaborating on menu development to enhance guest satisfaction while promoting sustainability and reducing food waste.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating patient and retail service standards, ensuring they are met.
  • Conduct sanitation audits and performance audits on a consistent basis per determined departmental frequencies.
  • Identify current learning needs and opportunities for staff, directing and managing processes for information dissemination.
  • Follow purchasing agreements and compliance goals set forth by departmental leadership, assisting with compliance audits.
  • Direct all patient non-interactive positions and maintain regulatory compliance and infection control practices.
  • Maintain communication with staff and customers regarding service levels and promote patient satisfaction with nutritional services.
  • Conduct frequent patient rounding and visitations.
  • Ensure regulatory standards are encompassed in nutrition programs and coordinate with other departments as appropriate.
  • Maintain adequate staffing for daily needs, reflecting cost efficiency, and manage staff performance.
  • Conduct job shadowing audits to assess training program efficacy and provide coaching as needed.
  • Collaborate in the process of menu development for patient, cafeteria, and catering services, prioritizing culinary excellence and sustainability.
  • Participate in hospital committees as indicated by department policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and plan menus for special events and catering, traveling to other campuses as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leader.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Associate's degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management preferred, or commensurate experience in lieu of degree.
  • Food Handlers Permit must be obtained within 30 days of hire if required by state, county, or local health code.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly.
