About the position

The Executive Chef at Stew Leonard's is the primary leader in the culinary department, responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, production planning, and ensuring adherence to food safety standards. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with kitchen systems and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee all aspects of production planning and execution.
  • Ensure accurate inventories on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Conduct weekly schedules for kitchen team members.
  • Communicate and delegate tasks effectively within a large team.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the kitchen.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons.

  • Maintain overall morale of the kitchen department.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety and health code regulations, maintaining a Health Department rating of 'A'.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Bachelor's degree from a Culinary Institute.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation certification.
  • Expertise in global cuisines.
  • Knowledge of food trends and market conditions.
  • Ability to introduce labor-reducing equipment and efficiencies.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work under staff and labor constraints.
  • Above average math and computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Culinary/food handling experience.
