About the position

The Executive Director of the Center for Global Leadership at Oral Roberts University (ORU) plays a pivotal role in championing leadership development across the university. This position is integral to the university's mission of developing Holy Spirit-empowered leaders through a holistic education approach. The Executive Director will work collaboratively with various departments, including Academics, Student Life, Athletics, and Human Resources, to advance leadership initiatives that align with the university's goals. The Center serves as a hub for uniting and driving leadership development, ensuring that students are equipped to impact both the local Tulsa community and the global stage. In this role, the Executive Director will engage faculty and students in meaningful discussions about leadership development for the 21st century, emphasizing a Spirit-empowered perspective. The position requires a visionary leader who can embrace new technologies and innovative approaches to enhance leadership education. The Executive Director will also be responsible for fundraising efforts, requiring superb communication skills, relationship-building capabilities, and the ability to track and measure the effectiveness of initiatives. The Executive Director will contribute to the preparedness of ORU students and graduates, helping them discover and implement solutions to the world's greatest challenges. This includes establishing a global network of Spirit-empowered leaders and advancing academic programs through initiatives such as Global Leadership Badges and Micro-credentials. The role demands a strong commitment to the university's mission and the ability to develop and execute a comprehensive co-curricular leadership development program that aligns with the university's 5-Year Adaptive Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and advance all components for the Center for Global Leadership in alignment with the university mission and 5-Year Adaptive Plan.
  • Equip a diverse student population to understand and grow in personal and spiritual leadership capacities, with an emphasis on global awareness.
  • Work with the Leadership Oversight Committee to enhance student capacities to recognize and respond to contemporary challenges through engagement and experiential learning.
  • Utilize independent judgment to create a comprehensive co-curricular leadership development program with a strategic business plan.
  • Demonstrate Spirit-empowered leadership with strong analytical, problem-solving, strategic planning, and implementation skills with minimal supervision.
  • Present bi-annual co-curricular training workshops and seminars for ORU faculty and staff to strengthen leadership development.
  • Plan and organize leadership development conferences and events for ORU students and prospective students.
  • Track and partner with national and international leadership organizations to build the university's leadership brand.
  • Advise on current university leadership majors and minors while recommending new badges, micro-credentials, degrees, and certificates that meet market demand.
  • Oversee the incorporation and development of student assessment goals in collaboration with faculty and the Leadership Oversight Committee.
  • Serve as a representative of the Center at university-wide recruitment events for prospective students and families.
  • Supervise Center fellows, graduate assistants, and student workers, providing guidance and coaching.
  • Create a baseline of student leadership development, track progress, and ensure database maintenance.
  • Provide oversight for a Center flagship publication and design leadership development workshops and conferences.
  • Build an effective team of leaders within the Center and maintain exceptional Christian relationships with all university constituencies.
  • Actively participate in events and assigned duties that support the university's mission.
  • Speak on behalf of the university and guest lecture upon request.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of leadership principles and best practices, including cross-cultural leadership experience.
  • Outstanding record of leadership knowledge and abilities.
  • Proven thought leadership in an academic, organizational, or ministry context.
  • Track record of developing successful programs, strategies, and plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience in developing academic programs.
  • Graduate degree minimum in a relevant field.
