About the position

The Executive Director of Clinical Development & Operations for Cardio Renal Metabolic at Boehringer Ingelheim is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the clinical development strategy and operational excellence within the therapeutic area. This position focuses on innovative treatments for cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases, ensuring efficient execution of clinical programs and fostering collaboration with various stakeholders. The role requires a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes and leading a team to achieve high performance in clinical development.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the proactive development of operational strategy for accelerated and efficient execution of clinical development programs within Cardio Renal Metabolic (CRM).
• Governance of clinical program execution within CRM, ensuring alignment with CRM Medicine and Global Medical Affairs.
• Drive opportunities for engagement and collaboration with partners relevant for CRM, including professional societies, academic institutions, and patient groups.
• Participate in governance or steering committee meetings with strategic partners and resolve complex problems related to clinical delivery.
• Maintain high visibility of operational topics among TA strategic partners and represent Boehringer Ingelheim as a clinical operational counterpart for alliance partners.
• Support cross-functional teams in creating processes or standards necessary for improving execution efficiency and quality.
• Foster inclusion of technology and digital tools to implement clinical programs effectively.
• Challenge trial assumptions and ensure data-driven trial planning and patient-centricity in clinical programs.

Requirements

• MD or PhD degree is desirable; minimum of a degree in life sciences with over 15 years of experience in clinical development and operations, or a Bachelor's degree in health sciences with a minimum of 20 years of experience.
• Experience within the therapeutic area of Cardio Renal Metabolic.

• Leadership mindset with the ability to lead by example and develop talent.
• Strong commercial and business acumen with excellent strategic mindset and communication skills.
• Proven ability to build internal relationships and influence in a matrix environment.
