About the position

The Executive Director of the Congregational Health & Education Network (CHEN) is a key management leader responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. The role focuses on reducing health disparities in Nashville's African American community through education and health literacy initiatives in partnership with faith-based organizations. The Executive Director will lead fundraising efforts, community outreach, and ensure the organization's fiscal integrity while collaborating with the Board of Directors and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead CHEN in alignment with its mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Communicate effectively with the Chief, Population Health and Research and the CHEN Board, providing timely and accurate information.
  • Develop a structure for board management, member selection, and annual budget.
  • Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to non-profit operations.
  • Oversee fundraising and develop revenues necessary to support CHEN's mission.
  • Maintain fiscal integrity, including budget preparation and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement strategic planning to fulfill CHEN's mission.
  • Enhance CHEN's image through community engagement and collaboration with organizations.
  • Hire and retain competent staff, ensuring effective administration of operations.
  • Serve as CHEN's primary spokesperson to constituents, media, and the public.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Divinity, or related field.
  • 5 years of senior non-profit management experience.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide oversight and strategic direction to CHEN.
  • History of generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
  • Active fundraising experience with strong donor relations skills.
  • Previous success in establishing relationships with influential individuals and organizations.
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, and program development.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation and analysis.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking ability.
