The Executive Director for Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations at VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center is a pivotal leadership role that encompasses the strategic oversight of all marketing, communications, and public relations activities within the center. This position is tasked with the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy that aligns with both the research initiatives and the cancer service line of the center. The Executive Director will report directly to both the Director of the Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Associate Vice President of Strategy and Marketing in the Enterprise Marketing and Communications division, which is responsible for integrated marketing and communications for VCU and VCU Health. In this role, the Executive Director will be responsible for enhancing the center's reputation, promoting its research initiatives, and supporting its clinical services. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction and vision for marketing and communications efforts, ensuring that they align with the goals and objectives of Massey. This includes cultivating relationships with various stakeholders, including leadership at Massey and VCU, patients, caregivers, donors, community partners, and the media, to enhance the center's image and impact. The Executive Director will oversee brand management, ensuring a consistent and compelling presence across all channels and materials, while also integrating the Massey brand with the broader VCU and VCU Health brand. Public relations initiatives will be developed and executed to enhance the center's visibility, including media outreach and crisis communications. Additionally, the Executive Director will lead marketing campaigns that promote the center's research and cancer service line, manage the marketing and communications budget, and foster effective internal communications within the organization. The role also involves collaboration with researchers to communicate research findings effectively and working with community outreach programs to educate the public about cancer prevention and available services. Finally, the Executive Director will be responsible for recruiting, developing, and managing a high-performing team of marketing, communications, and public relations professionals.
