About the position

The Executive Director of the Gaming Commission is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Gaming Commission, providing administrative support, and managing staff and resources. This role involves ensuring compliance with gaming regulations, managing budgets, and leading various divisions within the Commission. The Executive Director plays a crucial role in human resources, staff development, and maintaining efficient operations across all gaming establishments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise Gaming Commission staff, consultants, and contractors.
  • Oversee human resources and personnel matters, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Assist in enforcing Gaming Commission orders and decisions.
  • Develop and maintain a records management and retention system.
  • Ensure compliance with Compacts, Gaming Regulatory Acts, and related regulations.
  • Conduct investigations efficiently and professionally.
  • Manage the Licensing and Investigation Division, Compliance and Enforcement Division, and Internal Audit Division.
  • Negotiate contracts for goods and services following Tribal Government purchasing processes.
  • Report regularly to the Commission on Gaming Commission activities and issues.
  • Review complaints from casino management and assess performance against budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, criminal justice, accounting, or related fields from an accredited institution.
  • At least five years of experience at a senior management level in gaming regulation, compliance, or audit.
  • Ability to manage and direct a professional staff of at least 60 people.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and casino industry applications software.
  • Eligibility to serve as Executive Director under the qualifications provided in the Band's Gaming Regulatory Act.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional experience in public accounting or business finance, public or business administration, judicial or dispute resolution services, criminal justice, civil or criminal investigation, and law.
