About the position

The Executive Director of Learning Design at ETS will lead the strategy for developing learning and assessment solutions within the K16 Business Unit. This role involves overseeing a team of learning scientists, instructional designers, and user experience professionals to create impactful, evidence-based learning experiences tailored to user needs. The position requires a strong focus on user-centered design, collaboration with stakeholders, and the integration of innovative AI capabilities into learning solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Drive product development learning science and design strategy and provide mentorship to team members.
  • Develop and execute strategies for articulating intended learning outcomes and establishing research foundations for solutions.
  • Engage with target market users to conduct needs assessments and validate problem statements throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to articulate product requirements and ensure timely delivery of product offerings.
  • Ensure foundational documentation supports solution content strategy and design implementation.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers to leverage data insights throughout the learning experience.
  • Inform the research agenda and implementation with a learning science perspective.
  • Support the development of defensible claims about assessment and learning solutions for marketing and sales strategies.
  • Stay updated with emerging research methods and trends in learning science and design.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategy for educational technology learning solutions.
  • Experience in user-centered design and synthesizing learning and measurement science research.
  • Ability to conceptualize and create innovative AI capabilities in learning design.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to meet project goals.
  • A doctoral degree in learning or cognitive science, assessment and measurement, instructional design, or related area.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in leadership roles.
  • 10+ years in applied learning science and design within educational technology.
