The Executive Director of Marketing & Talent Excellence will play a strategic role in developing and implementing core marketing principles and standards. This individual will need to influence and lead the enterprise-wide marketing organizations and drive the change necessary to ensure BMS marketers develop and grow their careers. The Executive Director will continue to develop the bespoke BMS Marketing Quotient framework that reflects the new and changing environment to ensure a companywide consistent approach to drive customer behavior change that helps to enable patients receiving appropriate therapies. The role requires a dynamic leader with strong marketing expertise and a vision for the future of marketing. The Executive Director will be accountable for working across markets and engaging with senior leaders within the company. This position is critical as BMS evolves to a skills-based organization, focusing on identifying critical skills for marketers across various roles. The Executive Director will also be responsible for establishing structured job profiles, articulating career journeys, and helping marketers develop and grow within BMS. The individual will create a learning organization that shares best practices and captures launch learnings for future brands, ensuring all marketers can learn and grow in the organization. In addition, the Executive Director will develop a proactive communication plan that shares the phased development and implementation approach to marketing excellence across the company. This role is essential in building a best-in-class marketing organization and ensuring a consistent approach aligned with Unified Brand Planning. The Executive Director will also design a change management approach that seamlessly integrates into all marketers' ways of working, ensuring that the marketing organization is equipped to meet the challenges of an evolving market.

Responsibilities

  • Build and shape the company-wide commercial organization into a best-in-class marketing organization by expanding the Marketing Quotient framework.
  • Develop a talent skills-based approach to focus on shaping talent that evolves with the changing market.
  • Establish structured job profiles, articulate career journeys, and help marketers develop and grow within BMS.
  • Develop clear skill set expectations of marketing talent across markets, including skills model, job/role descriptions, and assessments.
  • Create a learning organization that shares best practices and captures launch learnings for future brands.
  • Build a curriculum that includes live and on-demand learning programs for marketers, including a robust onboarding program for new hires.
  • Develop a proactive communication plan that shares the phased development and implementation approach to marketing excellence across the company.
  • Develop the Governance model that helps to embed marketing rigor and talent assessment.
  • Design the Change management approach that integrates into all marketers' ways of working.

Requirements

  • More than 15 years of healthcare/pharmaceutical/biotech commercial marketing experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of marketing experience across various therapeutic areas within a large market and worldwide.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally, including with medical and access teams.
  • Ability to interface with senior leadership, including CEO and CCO levels.
  • Demonstrated willingness to push and evolve an organization with creative thinking and capability building.
  • Deep customer knowledge, understanding of competition, and the regulatory landscape.
  • Experience in developing talent and designing training programs.
  • Strong grasp of business and marketing fundamentals with a natural curiosity and willingness to take risks.
  • Prior experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and teaching marketing fundamentals.
