About the position

The Executive Director of Assessment and Data Analytics is responsible for overseeing the analytics lifecycle within the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. This role involves managing a team, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with various stakeholders to assess and enhance student services and programs through data-driven strategies. The position requires a strong focus on data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform policy and strategic planning, while also staying current with trends in higher education assessment and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Support divisional staff in meeting departmental assessment needs and serve as a point of contact for university staff regarding information needs.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data related to student learning outcomes, engagement, retention, and success.
  • Collaborate with university stakeholders to identify key performance indicators and metrics for assessing student services and programs.
  • Provide expert consultation in designing surveys, focus groups, and other assessment tools to measure student needs and program effectiveness.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports and dashboards to senior leadership and stakeholders for policy and resource allocation decisions.
  • Stay current with national trends in higher education assessment and data analytics, implementing best practices and technologies.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of assessment and data analytics professionals, guiding them in data analysis and report writing.
  • Collaborate with institutional research, IT, and academic affairs to integrate student affairs data with institutional data systems.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive assessment strategy for all departments within the Division of Student Affairs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in assessment and data analytics.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
