About the position

The Executive Director of Creative Content is a pivotal leadership role within LSU Athletics, responsible for the organization and production of all creative and feature video content that promotes the university's nationally recognized athletics programs. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that all content is published on LSU Athletics' official external channels, including television, social media, subscription services, in-venue video boards, and mobile applications. The Executive Director will oversee a diverse range of creative content, collaborating closely with various departments such as social and digital media, media relations, marketing and promotions, creative services, LSU Sports Properties, and NIL to develop compelling digital storytelling and messaging. In addition to overseeing the production of feature content for the department's subscription service, currently branded as LSU GOLD, the Executive Director will manage a team that includes direct reports responsible for creative and feature video production, as well as full-time producers, graduate assistants, and student workers. This role may also involve providing team content coverage for a specific sport, which will be determined based on departmental needs. The Executive Director will be tasked with managing the full creative content structure, ensuring effective organization, scheduling, and planning for the creative content team. The position requires a strong collaborative approach, working with stakeholders across the department to develop storytelling and messaging that aligns with LSU's brand and values. The Executive Director will also ensure compliance with departmental, university, conference, and NCAA regulations, maintaining high standards for all produced content. This role includes responsibilities such as budgeting for the creative content department, identifying needs for future capital, and participating in initiatives that promote an inclusive culture within LSU Athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full creative content structure, including direct reports overseeing creative and feature content.
  • Provide organization, structure, scheduling, and planning to the creative content team, including full-time producers, graduate assistants, and student workers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in the department to develop storytelling, messaging, and revenue possibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental, University, conference, and NCAA procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Serve as the lead producer on a nationally recognized sport, providing coverage at home and road events.
  • Manage budgeting for the creative content department and strategically plan for future capital needs.
  • Advance and support LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through participation in educational and developmental opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Multimedia, or a similar field of study.
  • Seven years of experience creating, producing, and directing high-quality programming.
  • Strong understanding of the production and post-production process.
  • Previous supervisory and managerial experience.
  • Experience in video production and non-linear editing.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, etc.) and Apple computers.
  • Proven content creation skills in a high-paced, demanding professional setting.
  • Working knowledge of video production equipment, including cameras, microphones, tripods, and stabilizers.
  • Understanding of and alignment with the Core Values of LSU Athletics.
