About the position

The Executive Director of Information Security and Policy is responsible for overseeing the risk management process for Lewis University's information systems and data. This role involves leading efforts to secure institutional data, ensuring compliance with data security policies, and participating in disaster recovery planning. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the university's cybersecurity posture and protect sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Model the university mission through dedicated job performance and service excellence.
• Provide leadership and guidance on information security topics and collaborate on security processes and disaster recovery plans.
• Advise executive leadership on matters relating to the university's cybersecurity posture.
• Develop and implement a university-wide information security plan, including policies and best practices.
• Test and evaluate university information systems and networks for potential security threats.
• Respond to reported information security violations and mitigate damage from breaches.
• Investigate security breaches and recommend procedural changes to protect data.
• Coordinate with other divisions to develop and implement the university's disaster recovery plan for technology resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer.

Requirements

• Master's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field with five years of information security experience, or a bachelor's degree with seven years of progressive IT security management experience.
• Experience with information assurance and information security products (software and hardware).
• Ability to work as a member and leader of a team.
• Flexibility in work scheduling.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification or other comparable industry certification.
