We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Executive Director of Project Management Office (PMO) to join our team! The Executive Director of PMO is responsible for overseeing the standard C5MI project management process, including governance, team leadership, tracking and monitoring, prioritization, communication, and quality controls. The Executive Director of PMO develops and maintains the standards to represent the brand by establishing best-in-class project management methodologies, standards, and tools and collaborates with Executive Portfolio Directors to ensure deliverables are met on all projects. The role involves overseeing the intake process for the full portfolio of projects and initiatives to ensure they align with strategy and support long-term goals. The Executive Director will support planning and strategy by working with executive leadership to identify and prioritize projects, seek continuous improvement initiatives, and develop, implement, and govern program management processes, tools, templates, policies, and metrics. This position also includes coaching and mentoring project management practitioners, establishing the PMO organization structure, and managing project manager staffing requirements in line with project objectives. The Executive Director will lead, manage, and hold direct reports accountable, providing support, encouragement, feedback, and coaching to ensure team performance. They will set annual performance targets for direct reports, conduct performance reviews, and ensure projects are defined, tracked, and executed effectively to maximize project success and drive business growth. Additionally, the role includes tracking and providing company portfolio status and audit reports, managing the risk, issue, and change resolution process, and ensuring quality control of contract compliance and reporting to stakeholders and Executive Management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the intake process for full portfolio of projects and initiatives to ensure they align with strategy and support long-term goals.
  • Supports planning and strategy by working with executive leadership to identify and prioritize projects.
  • Seeks continuous improvement initiatives to meet or exceed the expectations established.
  • Develops, implements, and governs program management processes, tools, templates, policies, and metrics.
  • Monitors compliance with project policies and standards.
  • Coaches and mentors project management practitioners and shares knowledge of best practices.
  • Establishes the PMO organization structure, hires and manages project manager staffing requirements in line with project objectives.
  • Leads, manages, and holds direct reports accountable, providing support, encouragement, feedback, and coaching to ensure team performance.

  • Ensures quality control of contract compliance and reporting to stakeholders and Executive Management.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
  • At least 10 years of project or process management experience preferred.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • PMP or PgMP is a plus.
  • Must be a self-starter and problem solver, capable of functioning in a dynamic, fast-paced, change-oriented environment.
  • Expert-level knowledge of project and change management, methodologies, techniques, and processes (e.g., Project and Portfolio Management Methodology-PPM).
  • Budget, cost, and profitability management skills.
  • Knowledge of resource management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence across all levels within the organization.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resourceful when managing changing timelines and multiple deliverables.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to establish and manage a high-performance team.
  • Motivated to build relationships with executives as well as technology, solutions, customer, and vendor groups.
