About the position

The Executive Director, Office of School Choice and Administration at The School District of Lee County is responsible for providing leadership, strategic planning, policy development, and administrative oversight of school choice programs. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulations, fostering partnerships, and advocating for policies that enhance school choice opportunities for students and families.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of school choice programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, and professional development of staff within School Choice and related programs.
  • Oversee test administration and other administrative functions.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to staff to build highly effective teams that facilitate effective operation of programs.
  • Develop long-term strategies to promote and expand school choice initiatives within the community.
  • Stay informed about relevant education policies and legislation at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Advocate for policies that support and enhance school choice opportunities for students and families.
  • Build partnerships with local schools, community organizations, businesses, and parents to promote awareness of school choice options.
  • Collaborate effectively with district leadership, community partners, law enforcement agencies, teachers, parents, and students in planning and delivering educational alternative programs.
  • Collaborate with district leadership to develop and manage program budgets, ensuring efficient and equitable allocation of resources.
  • Foster a culture of professional development, innovation, collaboration, and accountability among staff and stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of school choice programs, collecting data and feedback to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs and curricula of alternative programs for at-risk students.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Educational Leadership, Business Administration, or other relevant field of study.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible and effective work experience in educational leadership, school administration, or similar experience related to the position.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem solving with a track record of successful program development and implementation.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in Education, Educational Leadership, or other relevant field of study.
  • Experience in education policy, administration, or advocacy, with a focus on school choice issues.
