About the position

The Executive Director (ED) for Digital Product Services is responsible for providing broad policy, program, and administrative guidance within the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The ED plays a critical role in overseeing the development and modernization of technology products and platforms, ensuring compliance with strategic goals, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders to enhance user experiences. This position requires strong leadership in managing complex software and data products, directing project workflows, and implementing best practices for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development or acquisition of cross-cutting applications and modernization of legacy applications.
  • Direct the strategic acquisition process or procurement for technology capabilities.
  • Manage large and complex software and data products, platforms, and other technology components.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key technical and business customers.
  • Provide technical direction in the analysis, design, development, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of technology products and platforms.
  • Communicate the vision and objectives of programs and projects to staff and direct project workflow.
  • Define critical success factors for portfolio products and establish key performance indicators and metrics.
  • Develop specific objectives and goals, assign work, and motivate team members.

Requirements

  • US citizenship is required.
  • One year probationary period required for initial SES appointment.
  • Experience in managing large public or private sector organizations that administer complex, rules-based benefits or services.
  • Demonstrated executive-level experience in managing teams of technologists responsible for delivering IT products and services.

  • Experience in organizational skills and program management.
  • Familiarity with federal government operations and policies.
