About the position

The Executive Director for Pacific Charter School Development (PCSD) in Colorado will lead the establishment and growth of the regional office, focusing on developing charter school facilities and fostering partnerships with stakeholders. This role involves hands-on management of operations, overseeing project development, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational environments in historically under-resourced communities. The Executive Director will also play a pivotal role in launching a new organization to support charter schools statewide, enhancing access to quality public education.

Responsibilities

  • Guide new school leaders through the facilities process.
  • Develop project pipeline and manage funder and partner relationships.
  • Ensure projects are delivered under budget and time constraints.
  • Lead regional efforts to grow the market and streamline the development process.
  • Develop a strong vision and strategic plan for the growth of the region.
  • Establish PCSD as a thought leader in the Colorado charter school community.
  • Identify critical issues within the region and create workplans for resolution.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams in implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and develop relationships with potential charter school clients.
  • Develop and present proposals to potential clients.
  • Collaborate with the Executive team to support project pipeline development and capital fundraising efforts.
  • Negotiate terms of agreements with clients and partners.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with charter school clients throughout all stages of project development.
  • Manage all phases of the facilities development process including site selection and financing support.
  • Finalize and sign off on budgets during acquisition to close of financing.
  • Serve as point for conflict resolution during project management.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with key vendors.
  • Advise Executive team on equity investments and regional portfolio management.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of real estate development experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience leading and growing small organizations or regional divisions.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
  • Demonstrate keen problem-solving skills and offer workaround solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of all phases of development, particularly entitlements and construction management.
  • Effective communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with a proven history of performance.
  • Interest in reforming public education; mission-driven.
  • Strong teamwork and team building skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required (business, economics, finance, real estate, architecture, or engineering preferred).
  • Relevant industry experience or graduate degree in management consulting, commercial or charter school lending, real estate development, business, finance, or architecture is a plus.
