About the position

Wells Fargo's CIB Fund Finance Group is seeking an Investment Banking Executive Director to manage a portfolio of clients, focusing on financing for private equity funds and asset managers. The role involves leading underwriting processes, structuring transactions, and maintaining client relationships, while collaborating with senior bankers and junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day job responsibilities for new deals including creating pitches/term sheets alongside senior originating bankers.
  • Partner with senior bankers to drive legal document negotiation, deal structuring, and presentations to credit partners.
  • Act as the lead banker on internal underwriting and credit approval processes, including writing detailed credit memos and leading discussions with credit partners.
  • Work closely with internal and external counsel to negotiate legal documentation.
  • Lead due diligence meetings and client interactions related to transactions.
  • Oversee and manage junior resources in deal origination and ongoing portfolio management.
  • Work with clients to understand financing needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities for existing deals, including portfolio management activities and maintaining client relationships.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Investment Banking experience or equivalent work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Direct client interaction experience, including leading transaction elements and interacting with senior decision makers.
  • Deal origination & credit underwriting experience in a senior/lead capacity.
  • Experience reading, negotiating, and interpreting legal documents.
  • Experience in structured finance or investment banking is preferred.
  • Leadership experience and/or experience training others in a relevant professional capacity.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining excellence and consistency of work.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with originating and monitoring subscription facilities, asset backed finance, or securitization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with private equity funds.
  • Very comfortable and efficient in Excel, including writing formulas and analyzing data.
  • Experience monitoring covenants and client reporting.
  • Formal credit training program experience.
