About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking an Executive Director in the Fund Finance Group to manage a portfolio of existing and prospective clients, focusing on providing financing to private equity funds and asset managers through structured credit facilities. This role involves leading underwriting processes, structuring transactions, and maintaining client relationships, while collaborating with senior bankers and junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Create pitches and term sheets alongside senior bankers to win new mandates.
  • Drive legal document negotiation and deal structuring in collaboration with senior bankers.
  • Act as the lead banker on internal underwriting and credit approval processes, including writing detailed credit memos.
  • Negotiate legal documentation with internal and external counsel.
  • Lead due diligence meetings and client interactions related to transactions.
  • Oversee junior resources in deal origination and portfolio management.
  • Understand client financing needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Manage portfolio activities, including maintaining client relationships and ensuring deal requirements are met.
  • Negotiate and execute amendments and facility modifications for existing deals.
  • Monitor financial performance and internal credit ratings of borrowers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Investment Banking experience or equivalent.
  • Direct client interaction experience, including leading transaction elements.
  • Deal origination and credit underwriting experience in a senior capacity.
  • Experience reading, negotiating, and interpreting legal documents.
  • Experience in structured finance or investment banking is preferred.
  • Leadership experience and/or experience training others.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining excellence.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with originating and monitoring subscription facilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with private equity funds.
  • Very comfortable and efficient in Excel, including writing formulas and analyzing data.
  • Experience monitoring covenants and client reporting.
  • Formal credit training program experience.
