About the position

The Executive Director at MorningStar Senior Living is a pivotal role that encompasses the leadership and management of all day-to-day operations within the community. In this role, the Executive Director will act as a servant leader, prioritizing the needs of others and empowering team members to excel in their roles. This includes recruiting, training, and managing department heads, as well as maintaining open lines of communication across all levels of the organization. The Executive Director will also be expected to engage with residents and families regularly, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met. This hands-on approach is essential for maintaining a positive community atmosphere and ensuring that the physical environment is always welcoming and ready for visitors. The Executive Director will also play a crucial role in representing the community to external stakeholders, including government agencies and private organizations. This involves preparing and submitting required reports, participating in inspections, and addressing any deficiencies identified during evaluations. The ideal candidate will have a strong business acumen, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a passion for working with seniors, all while demonstrating the core values of love, kindness, honesty, goodness, fairness, and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day operations of the community.
  • Lead team member relations and ensure effective communication with residents and families.
  • Manage resident well-being and promote vibrant resident activities.
  • Ensure quality assurance and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Handle financial management, including budget oversight and expense management.
  • Recruit, train, and hire department managers to supervise daily operations.
  • Support department heads in their roles and ensure efficient operations.
  • Act as a servant leader, prioritizing the needs of team members and residents.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to the company and external agencies.
  • Represent the community with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Conduct regular observations of departmental activities to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Maintain personal contact with residents and families to foster relationships.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available and in working order.
  • Facilitate necessary meetings and ensure effective communication across departments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Executive Director or related experience in a senior living environment.
  • Demonstrated competence in financial expense and budget management.
  • Experience in human resources, including staffing and team member development.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance and presentation standards.
  • Ability to facilitate a sales culture within the community.
  • Experience in leading compliance with clinical requirements and best practices.
  • Proficiency in culinary excellence and resident engagement activities.
  • Demonstrated leadership as a Serving Leader, prioritizing team member development.
  • Passion for working with seniors and fostering a vibrant team environment.
  • Preferred college degree or equivalent work experience in relevant fields.
  • Applicable continuing education as required by the state.
  • Maintaining necessary licensure and certifications as required by the state.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new applications.
